nC® TitanProtect TA2201 Glass & Ceramics is a very fine, water-based titanium-dioxide dispersion. Its formulatíon is a photocatalytically active coating and is fully transparent. Upon radiation with light, the coatings will release oxygen radicals from the ambient air and thus decompose solid and gaseous substrates by oxidation („cold combustion“).

 

Firstly, nC® TitanProtect TA2201 is an outdoor application, as it is active under UV light (sunlight) only. The design of nC® TitanProtect TA2201 providing glass and glazed ceramic products (eg. window panes, domes, car windows, swimming pool tiles etc. ) with self-cleaning properties, to protect them against pollution, against algae and mould as well as to clear the air from pollutants (e.g. NOx). The active self-cleaning titanium-dioxide particles transform all organic pollution on the surfaces of rooftiles and ceramics, like soot, bird-droppings, stains of coffee, wine, oils, fingerprints etc. , into harmless compositions and oxygen.

 

Calculations learn that 920 m² of titanium coated surface equals the air-filtering capacity of 80 trees. As the coating has strong hydrophilic capacities, pollution can never scale or “bake in.” 

 

nC® TitanProtect TA2201 Glasss unites the advantages of photo catalysis and hydrophilicity with the unique capacity of nano-technology.  Instead of sticking mechanically on the surface (like waxes or foils do), the use of nanotechnology ensures that the nC® TitanProtect TA2201 coating bonds into the surface chemically. By doing this, the coating offers a very robust and wear resistant surface. The lifetime cycle of the coating is 5 to 10 years. The active self-cleaning characteristics of titanium-dioxide will not exhaust during the lifetime cycle of the coating.

APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS

TA2201 is designed for exterior coatings of glass as well as for      polished tiles. TA2201 is preferably suitable for automated and industrial application processes.

 

  • Do not eat, drink or smoke during application.
  • Surface must be clean and free from kit, glue, grease, mold or moss.
  • Rinse with clean and fresh water to remove soap residues.
  • Surface must be dry.
  • Ambient temperature during manual application must be at least 15° C.
  • Do not apply when ambient humidity exceeds 80%.
  • Do not apply in a dusty environment.
  • Wear protective gloves during application.
  • Wear safety goggles during application.
  • Shake container well for a minute.
  • Spray, brush or roll item with nC® TitanProtect TA2201.
  • Recommended application quantities:
  • Plain surfaces 25 ml/m²
  • Textured surfaces up to 50 ml/m²
  • To form a lasting matrix, apply heat 85° C - 100° by means of paint dryer or IR radiant for 15 minutes.
  • The maximum curing temperature is 200° C.
  • Subject is now ready to use.
  • Clean tools, spraynozzles with water immediately after every stop.
  • Wash hands and face after every stop.As nanotechnology is about bonding into surfaces and matrices of nanoparticles need to be built up after application, the treatment reaches full performance AFTER a cure time of approximately 36 to 72 hours, which is dependent upon environmental variables, humidity and heat applied. Tests of maximum performance should be performed after full cure.

LIMITATIONS

  • If the application of heat is NOT possible when drying nC® TitanProtect TA2201, the coating will still work, but will wear-off due to rain, wind and frost.
  • When installing over poor, greasy or dirty surfaces, the bonding of nC® TitanProtect TA2201 will become erratic, and so will the self-cleaning results be.
  • Do not allow application during freezing temperatures.
  • The selfcleaning effect will not occur in poor visible light, effective light spectrum < 400nm.

LOGISTIC INFO

  • Store nC® TitanProtect TA2201 Glass at temperatures between 5° C and 30° C.
  • Store nC® Glass for 6 months in unopened containers counting from production date.
  • Storage life for opened containers is 4 weeks, keep containers tightly sealed and store in a dark place.
