nC® ProTherm ISO-XF thermal insulating coating


nC® ProTherm is a series of sprayable and brushable thermal insulating coatings. The series has additional properties as acoustic insulation, safe-touch, fire retardancy, high heat resistance and corrosion passivation in individual nC® ProTherm variations. This enables you to always find the suitable nC® ProTherm solution for your situation.


Based on sol-gel nanotechnology, the nC® ProTherm ISO-XF coating is designed for long lasting lifetime cycles of more than 15 years outdoors, and life-long expectancy indoors. Because of the ability to insulate with a very thin layer of coating, nC® ProTherm ISO-XF offers space saving and cost reduction at a high degree of insulation. Thermal conductivity = λ10 mW/(m·K) 56 and Thermal resistance = R10 m2K/W 0.2409 at 10mm, at a lightweight density of 350 gr/m³.  The coating is hydrophobic, moist repellant and UV-resistant.


nC® ProTherm ISO-XF is a thermal insulating coating addressing both cold and heat issues. It can be applied on brick, stone, wood and concrete. Before application, the dry component A must be mixed together with resin component B. Use a mixer to prepare a 1:4 ratio powder/resin mixture. All nC® ProTherm coatings are applied spraygun for a smoother surface. Use brush or roller for a rougher surface. It shows a stucco-like finish. nC® ProTherm ISO-XFcan be applied in one layer, between 3mm up to 12 mm. nC ProTherm ISO-XF is available in off-white colour. It is available in all colours when ordered in a quantity exceeding 140 kg.

  • Lambda value λ (w/mK) = 0.045

  • Suitable for indoor and outdoor surfaces.
  • Apply on stone, concrete, wood, rooftiles or gypsum only.
  • nC® ProTherm ISO-XF operates on surfaces with internal temperatures ranging from -50° C up to 120° C.
  • A nC® ProTherm ISO-XF coat can withstand surface temperatures of up to 150° C for short periods of time.
  • Never expose a nC® ProTherm ISO-XF coat to surface temperatures of more than 150° C.
  • During preparing and application of nC® ProTherm, use safety glasses. Protect hands and skin from exposure using gloves and use appropriate clothing.
  • Although free from solvents, please ensure adequate ventilation, especially when spraying.
  • Substrate must be free from grease, dirt or dust.
  • Substrate temperature must be between 4° C and 75° C.
  • Ambient temperature must be between 4° C and 35° C.
  • Do not apply when ambient humidity exceeds 90%.
  • Mix dry component A 25% weight to resin component B 75% weight. Use (industrial) mixer.
  • Mix for at least 5 minutes.
  • Do NOT use any thinner.
  • For rough surface: Use brush, roller or knife.
  • For smooth surface use airgun/spraygun suitable for low viscosity stucco, for application.
  • One-coat film thicknesses can be varied from between 3mm to 12mm WFT.
  • Cross layer-application is recommended, wet-in-wet.
  • In case of rolling a rough surface will appear. If a smooth surface is required, please wet the finished surface with a low volume water mist sprayer (not a garden hose) and move a wet metal profile of about 120 cms long over the surface to make it smooth.  
  • Measure WFT during application. Product expands up from between 5% to 15% during application.
  • nC ProTherm ISO-XF will decrease 10% in thickness during curing time.



Sandstone, gypsum, brick, natural wood

12 hours, forced drying after 6 hours drying allowed at 55° C max.

Concrete, pressed wood, synthetics, glass

24 to 48 hours, forced drying after 6 hours drying allowed at 55° C max.

Curing time after which product can be exposed to full rain

12 hours

  • Let surface dry in for at least 6 hours before forced drying by means of blower or heater at 55° C max.
  • Surface can be painted over.
  • Clean brushes, rollers, nozzles with water immediately after any stop.
  • Wash hands and face after every stop.


  • Do not use as a final floor covering.
  • In case of long-term submersion, only install in combination with nC ProTherm H2O finish.
  • Do not install over poor surfaces, such as those with flaking paint, grease or other contaminates.
  • Do not allow application during freezing temperatures.
  • Do not rely on visual measurement for coating thickness. Always use a wet film thickness (WFT) and/or dry film thickness (DFT) gauge in several areas to ensure proper application thickness.


  • Never use pressure to empty drums.
  • Dispose of contents/container in accordance with local/regional/national/international regulations.
  • nC ProTherm ISO-XF has a shelf life of 1 year.
  • Store nC ProTherm ISO-XF between temperatures of 5° Celsius and 30° Celsius.
